"And for my next post, I will be featuring the 33rd shot of me holding a cup of coffee. I call this exhibit, "Is morning over yet?""

Anyways, I have a dark and dry sense of humour that often only other neurodiverse people comprehend. Which will flow perfectly with my next errr actual topic for today. The loss of friendships due to parenthood but REALLY due to a neurodiverse poor sense of time.

I was telling my partner Tom how many of my former friendships died a slow death after I had my first daughter, Alice, almost a decade ago.

"It's not that anyone Declared the friendship over, it just fades over time due to constant lack of nourishment," I told him. "And thus my current friends are the Cockroaches that survived the Nuclear Apocalypse that is my Life."

<No I'm not serious. Yes this is my sick sense of humour.>

But also YES I am serious about the slow deaths of friendships. Due both to parenting but also parenting with ADHD. Entire days, weeks, MONTHS pass where I am living in oblivion to the actual date. Forgetting birthdays, anniversaries. Thinking I last spoke to a person a few days ago when it was a few WEEKS ago. Apparently ADHD / neurodiverse brains process time differently.

As such, the friends I've kept have somehow found it in their hearts to overlook my space cadet ways.

Since being diagnosed with ADHD 3 years ago, I've put a lot of new systems into place:

- I add people's birthdays to their contacts in my phone

- I sent up an account on Postable where you can send bday and anniversary cards - no stamp or walk to the post office required

- I make it a note to check in on people when and where I can and ask how they're doing. I even write notes in my phone sometimes about them and what they're up to.

- I have 2 pages in our family binder where I list, month by month, everyones bday, anniversary etc

Tom & I will be talking about this Systems creation and other Systems for helping with unclear minds, in our new CLEAR MIND Program! The link is in my bio to join. Come share sick humour with us.
