I'm a proud Mama to these 3 beauties (the Coven as I call them... my wild witchy women). And one of the biggest things I hope to teach them is how to Reclaim their brains from the myriad of things that hijack our attention, mental bandwidth, and functioning.
As a neurodiverse person (with ADHD) this is even more important for us, but it affects everyone!
Here are the 5 ways our brain gets hijacked and 'under the control' of external forces aka not us.
Internal Issues - yeast overgrowth in the body (candida) and parasites actively send chemicals to the brain to make us crave certain foods that feed them
Food chemicals - preservatives, additives, artificial colours, artificial flavours, artificial sweeteners, white / brown sugar or high fructose corn syrup
Food chemistry overall - the bliss point developed between the right amounts of fat, carbs, crunchiness or creaminess,...

Now that we officially have 3 kids (with 2 under 2), my partner Tom and I, whom are both diagnosed with ADHD, have been thinking more and more about how we can connect with and support you guys.
More than ever the parents I speak to seem to identify as Neurodiverse. Whether they've officially been diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, or something else,
Or wether they simply Know that their brain operates differently. "Atypical" to the general public, as you could put it. At least 10% of us fall into this boat!
And here's the thing, being a PARENT who is neurodiverse, can be challenging.
Sometimes we can barely get our OWN life together, let alone our children's.
What Tom and I are mostly experiencing right now with super young kids is SENSORY OVERLOAD. Being physically tapped out; being touched out or needing ear plugs from the volume are all common themes.
As a result, we're looking to create a community of like-minded peeps and support each other...
Food Waste Vs. The Human Garbage Can
Often times the first step of starting to eat better, or in particular to do a weight shedding program like my Goddess Body program,
We look at getting rid of the foods that rob our health so we have fewer distractions / opportunities to fall off our goals.
However one common thing I see in every day people (not so much in clients) is this idea that 'I have to eat all the bad food up first.'
Which ends up with them spending weeks eating a plethora of terrible food in order to 'not waste money.' Again with the money angle and the food waste.
I have a few things to say here.
1) You can give your unopened food away to the nearest food donation centre
2) You may have neighbours, friends or family members who want your frozen foods.
3) You can compost food or throw it in your organics bin so that it is returning to the earth and nourishing it in the process
4) When all else fails,...
The Lean Tax
Sometimes if I'm choosing to eat a treat food, I buy a single version of it as opposed to an entire box.
For example one time during pregnancy, I was really craving an Ah! Caramel cake. So I bought one from the convenience store for $1.99 for a single package of two.
My Man goes, 'For that price, you can buy an entire box of 6 at the grocery store!"
It's true, you can! But I call this the Lean Tax.
You end up paying more money (not really). You pay the same overall price, but you only get 2 cakes instead of 12. You pay a higher 'per cake' price, yes.
But you actually save a lot in something else: Your HEALTH.
People have a really contorted view of money and food, and I am not promoting wasting food whatsoever. Rather why not make appropriate choices in line with our goals?
If I bought the entire package of 12 cakes, I would probably eat them all and feel like a human garbage can.
Instead I...

You guys… we saved Christmas
Baby was born December 19th, and we were all pretty well out of commission.
A smarter me would have prepared everything Christmas months ago, but truth be told the final month(S) of pregnancy left me feeling obese and depleted. It’s actually easier for me to get around now with a newborn, than it was when I was super pregnant.
Side notes: it was the most I’ve ever weighed in my life, and she was a 9lb baby at birth exactly 2lbs heavier than her sister Mæve. I felt so bogged down by fluids and heaviness, and was constantly sick with heartburn in the end. Anyways I digress. My point is, basic locomotion was difficult never mind planning an entire Christmas.
Also, we were in Reno mode trying to do some basic things before baby came, and that alone was tough.
We celebrated December 25th with my brother and niece in the GTA, but by then we were all ready to come back home. We made the 4H...
